NSI8220N0-DSPR
NOVOSENSE NSI8220N0-DSPR two-channel digital isolator, 3750 Vrms, 150 Mbps, high CMTI, in a small 8-SOIC package.
The NSI8220N0-DSPR is a NOVOSENSE two-channel digital isolator that passes a digital signal across a capacitive isolation barrier with a 3750 Vrms withstand voltage, in a small 8-SOIC package. The device uses an on-off-keying modulation with a radio-frequency carrier, so the signal crosses the barrier with a high noise immunity, a low radiated emission and a high common-mode transient immunity of about 200 kV/us, which keeps the data clean when the grounds of the two sides move quickly. It supports a data rate up to 150 Mbps, so it suits a fast interface such as an isolated SPI, an isolated RS485 or an isolated CAN, and it operates from about 2.5 V to 5.5 V, which makes it easy to place between a low-voltage controller and a higher-voltage domain. The small 8-pin package and the low power suit a dense board, and the fail-safe output option keeps the output defined when the input is not driven. Typical applications include isolated SPI, RS485, CAN and UART, general-purpose two-channel isolation, gate-drive signal isolation and industrial control. Every device BeiLuo ships is factory-traceable and includes an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS compliance file. Our FAE team helps you choose the channel count and plan the layout across the barrier.
FAE Professional Review
The NSI8220N0-DSPR is a good default for an isolated two-signal interface such as a UART or a CAN, with a 3750 Vrms barrier and a high CMTI that survive a fast switching environment. The small 8-SOIC package and the 2.5 V to 5.5 V supply make it easy to place. Keep the creepage and the clearance and the decoupling on both sides as the datasheet requires.

Frequently Asked Questions
What projects suit the NSI8220N0-DSPR?
It suits an isolated two-signal interface such as a UART, an RS485 or a CAN, and any general-purpose isolation where two signals must cross a barrier with a 3750 Vrms withstand. The 150 Mbps rate supports a fast bus.
Confirm the channel count and the isolation for your interface.
How do I lay out an isolator?
Keep the signal traces short on both sides, place the decoupling capacitors close to the supply pins of each side and provide the required creepage and clearance under the barrier, so the isolation is not defeated by the layout. Use a ground plane on each side and do not run a trace across the barrier.
